The fourth and last part of the monograph on Pokuttia contains folk prose and riddles. This volume consists of 77 texts arranged by Kolberg into the following sections: Tales of magic, Tales about evil spirits, strong men and ghosts, Legends, Moral tales, Tales of adventure and anecdotes, Fairy tales, Highlander’s tales as well as 205 riddles. These texts were recorded by Kolberg and his co-workers in over a dozen places of the region. In The Introduction Kolberg presented, among other things, the names of his informants and narrators from Ispas, Horodnica, Czortowiec and Jasieniów polny, as well as the rules of text transcription that he incorporated. In The Notes there is a small number of excerpts from publications concerning the folklore of Pokuttia.
