The following brief mention about Ogrodzieniec can be found in the Works of Kolberg:

"Ogrodzieniec is a town next to Podzamcze. They are situated by the mountain on which there are the ruins of an old castle of the Firlejs and Bonars".

 About the local castle he wrote:

"Around 1384 the castle was the home of the Włodek family who called themselves Ogrodzieński, to emphasize they come from the area of Ogrodzieniec."
