Łaszewo

Łaszewo is a village in the Świecie neighbourhood. Since 1852 the owner of the estate which includes a classical manor was Leopold Maksym Mieczkowski. Kolberg visited the place in the first part of August 1875. The following passage describes local beliefs:

“They believe in charms. One day  a woman had a swine to sell. Two other women came to buy it but the woman did not want to sell them. As soon as they walked away the swine fell down and started to squeal. It almost died. Only a man can break a spell for woman, and only a woman can remove a spell from man”.
