The Complete Works vol. 10: The Grand Duchy of Poznań part 2. Wrocław – Poznań 1963, pp. II+388. Photo-offset re-edition; first edition: Cracow 1876.
The second part of the monograph refers to the south-western part of the Great Poland region. The chapters are identical to those in part 1: The Country, The People, Customs, Rites, Games; however, in each of the chapters, western Great Poland is discussed first, then the southern one. There is a total of 163 songs and dances presented in the volume, most of which are wedding songs. Ritual folklore is depicted richly; it is illustrated with 16 descriptions of weddings as well as information about baptisms and funerals collected from 15 villages. Most of the material comes from Kolberg’s own collections gathered during his field work in 1866-1875 , and is expanded by records supplied by his co-workers. A considerable part was taken - as in the previous part of the monograph - from the questionnaires of the Poznań Society of Friends of Sciences (6 wedding descriptions, among others). The whole is supplemented with numerous notes from works and papers utilized during the preparation of part 1 of the monograph.
