Kielce

This is how Kolberg describes this city:

"The capital of the province, Kielce is a clean city with a large market, good pavements and sidewalks laid with marble slabs, the material which is very popular in the neighbourhood. (...) It was founded in 1172 or 1173 by Godeon with a Gryff coat of arms, a bishop of Cracow. It was established in the midst of forests by the Silnica river. On a hill he built a church made of ashlar stone, which later became a collegiate church (in more recent times, it became a cathedral). Despite changes of the pediment, the church retained its original character and has many tombstones."
